PE Overview

In Physical Education, at Lane Green First School, we intend to create an environment where the students are participating in high quality enjoyable physical education working on the fundamentals of core skills and movement, developing and challenging their skills set by taking part in a variety of different sporting activities. It is important that students understand the lifelong benefits of staying physically fit and active as well as having the knowledge for sustaining a healthy active life style.

Children are given opportunities to work both independently and as part of a team when tackling Physical Education tasks, building resilience in the face of adversity. Children are regularly challenged individually and as a class, given the opportunities to work on tasks which require them to apply their knowledge, reasoning and problem-solving skills.

The implementation of Physical Education at Lane Green First school follows the National Curriculum and the intention is that all students have a quality experience, developing their physical skills and knowledge of a variety of sporting activities. We strive to improve and maintain the physical fitness of each student in a fun and creative way. The sporting activities include: Invasion games, Net, Wall and Racquet Games, Striking and Fielding Games, Athletics, Dance, Gymnastics, Outdoor Education and Swimming.

The impact is that children leave Lane Green First School as confident, physically fit and healthy individuals, with the knowledge and skills required for the next stage of their education, and indeed, life
